Garden City is an incorporated village in Nassau County, New York, United States, in the town of Hempstead. It was founded by multi-millionaire Alexander Turney Stewart in 1869 and is on Long Island, to the east of New York City, 18.5 miles from midtown Manhattan. The African American Museum also known as the African American Museum of Nassau County, which opened in 1970, is dedicated to showcasing local and national African American artists.


Hofstra University Museum of Art:

Hofstra University Museum is the art museum of Hofstra University, located in Hempstead, New York in Long Island. The Museum has two galleries on campus: the Emily Lowe Gallery and the David Filderman Gallery. The Museum and the Emily Lowe Gallery were established in 1963, and have been an active presence in the University for more than 50 years.
